What Is the BTC Liquidation Heatmap?
The BTC Liquidation Heatmap is a real-time monitoring tool that visualizes Bitcoin and altcoin perpetual futures market data. Color-coded cells show the price movement intensity across 35+ trading pairs listed on Binance Futures, helping traders quickly identify which assets are experiencing the strongest bullish or bearish pressure.
How to Read This Heatmap
- Green cells — Pairs with positive price change. Deeper green = stronger upward momentum (≥8%).
- Red cells — Pairs with negative price change. Deeper red = stronger downward pressure (≤-8%).
- Gray cells — Pairs with neutral movement (<0.5% change).
- Heat score in the movers table combines absolute price change with trading volume to estimate liquidation pressure.
Key Market Indicators
Open Interest shows the total number of outstanding Bitcoin futures contracts. Rising OI with strong price moves often signals increased liquidation activity. Funding Rate reflects the cost of holding perpetual positions — high positive funding suggests long-side dominance, while negative funding points to shorts paying to maintain their positions. The Long/Short Ratio reveals the current balance between bullish and bearish positions among top traders.
